LSVT BIG is a research-based physical therapy program specifically designed for people with Parkinson's disease. It focuses on retraining the brain to produce bigger, more normal movements through intensive, high-amplitude exercises. Our therapist is LSVT BIG certified, meaning you receive expert-level care based on decades of clinical research.
The program targets the hallmark movement challenges of Parkinson's — small steps, shuffling gait, reduced arm swing, difficulty with balance, and trouble performing everyday tasks like getting out of a chair or reaching for objects.
The LSVT BIG protocol consists of 16 one-hour sessions over four consecutive weeks. Each session is conducted in your home and includes:
For individuals with Parkinson's disease, in-home therapy offers significant advantages over clinic-based care. There's no need to navigate transportation challenges or manage fatigue from traveling. Our therapist brings all necessary equipment and can assess and adapt your actual living environment to maximize safety and independence.
Treatment in your home also allows our team to practice functional tasks in the exact spaces where you perform them daily — your kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and outdoor areas.
LSVT BIG is appropriate for individuals at all stages of Parkinson's disease, from early diagnosis through advanced stages. It is also beneficial for people with other neurological conditions that affect movement. Medicare Part B covers medically necessary physical therapy services, including LSVT BIG — no referral is required.
